Macbeths Weak Mindset, Lust for Power, and Quest for...

In the story of Macbeth the character Macbeth is portrayed as an honest and trustworthy man. In the beginning of the story Macbeth meets three witches that tell him that he will be the Thane of Cowdar and eventually become King. Essentially Macbeth does not believe this and ignores it. Macbeth tells his wife about the series of events with the witches and his wife begins Macbeth’s quest for all power. In the story Lady Macbeth is the force that provokes Macbeth to commit all of these evil deeds. In the story it is easily noticeable that Macbeth can be convinced to do just about anything, but after he is no longer being convinced to do these acts it is realized that Macbeth has a lust for power, a quest for blood, and a weak mindset. It†¦show more content†¦After Macbeth has Banquo killed, he hallucinates and thinks he sees Banquo’s ghost because the malevolent deed is burdening his conscience.(Griffin 9 ) Mentally, Macbeth no longer exists. Due to Macbethâ€⠄¢s weak mind set it was Lady Macbeth that caused Macbeth to become blinded by ambition. He did desire the crown but it was Lady Macbeth who took control and forced Macbeth on a self-destructive path that would lead only to misery, not only for himself, but for all around him. It can be said that all of the women in the story had an effect on Macbeth’s mind. Shakespeare makes Macbeth’s character change to show how evil can take control and manipulate a person to cause pain to the surrounding environment. Macbeth is fearless. Without this dilemma, Macbeth decides to do everything rapidly and spontaneously. As a result of visiting the witches, a new flaw is developed in Macbeth’s mind. He becomes very arrogant, thinking that he cannot be defeated. However, in the end his arrogance will cost Macbeth his life. Throughout the meetings between the witches and Macbeth, no lies were told. All prophesies and apparitions are true and if Macbeth would have understood the f igurative meaning behind them, he would have been prepared for what the future held for him.
